Every Black Series model can be ordered in one of three configurations. Base is a fully capable off-grid trailer as it comes. Yellow Stone adds $15,000 of equipment for longer stays away from hookups. Rocky Mountain adds $30,000 for harder terrain, colder weather, and deeper backcountry travel.

Which one fits your trips

Choose Base if

You take weekend and week-long trips, mix campgrounds with boondocking, and mostly travel in mild-to-warm seasons. Base is a fully capable off-road, off-grid trailer at the lowest entry price — 600W of solar and a 2,000W inverter already run everything but sustained air conditioning.

Choose Yellow Stone if

You stay out one to two weeks at a time with no hookups. The 800Ah Victron lithium bank, 3,000W inverter, and 1,200W of solar give you the headroom to run air conditioning and heavy 110V loads off battery, the reverse-osmosis system keeps drinking water stocked, and the roof is already wired for Starlink.

Choose Rocky Mountain if

You travel in freezing conditions or on genuinely rough tracks. It carries the same Victron power package, then adds what hard country asks for: air suspension you can adjust from an onboard compressor, a full protected underbelly with a separate diesel furnace, BF Goodrich tires with Radflow shocks, recovery and protection kits, and a composting toilet that works where there is no dump station. Best for extreme terrain, cold climates, and expedition use.

Is the upgrade worth it?

Judge it by what you could add later versus what you cannot. Much of Yellow Stone — the 800Ah Victron system, doubled solar, and RO water filtration — is equipment that costs significantly more to buy and install aftermarket than it does as a factory package, though some of it can be retrofitted if you change your mind. Rocky Mountain is different: air suspension, full underbelly protection, and a built-in diesel furnace are build-level equipment that is not practical to add to a finished trailer. If expedition use is where you are headed, order it built that way.
